Went the European title in Brussels two years ago only to the two nation's Romania (4x) and Russia (1x), now, at the 35th European Gymnastics Championships Women 2014 after the at today's final day the new European champion came from 5 (!) different countries!
On vault, the Swiss Giulia STEINGRUBER was again not be beat with the best technique and E-notes. On uneven bars was Great Britain's  Rebecca DOWNIE sovereign (difficult exercise: 6.6) and it seems, she converts already successful in the trace of its British predecessor Beth Tweddle.
Then broke Russia's newcomer Maria KHARENKOVA, which was launched in the previous year at European Youth Olympic Festival in Utrecht yet, the Romanian bar sovereignty and referred there the established Larisa IORDACHE on rank two, but on the floor IORDACHE won the only individual medal at these championships for the European Team Champion Romania, however, but had to share this victory with the Italian "evergreen", Vanessa FERRARI.

GREAT BRITAIN’s junior women’s artistic team have completed a stunning 2014 European Championships by adding a further two junior gold, one silver and one bronze in the apparatus finals on the final day of competition. The medals add to the team silver and all-around bronze already secured to complete Britain’s greatest ever medal haul in in the championships, directly behind the top nation RUSSIA, winning also two apparatus today and altogether four junior gold medals as most successful nation!
Dariy SKYPNIK on uneven bars and all-around winner Angelina MELNIKOVA on balance beam won gold number three and four ans so Melnikova became the must successfully girl of these juniors event. Romania, however, remained on the final day entirely without victory and had to settle for two silver and one bronze medal, only.

First up, Ellie Downie – younger sister of Becky – completed the British full set of European Championships medals by adding vault gold to her team silver and all-around bronze medal, considering GBR had won one gold and one bronze in all the junior championships previously Ellie’s achievements were truly historic.

Today Romania's women's team defended today at the 35th European Championships in Sofia successfully its title from Brussels 2012. With increase at all the apparatus and top marks specially on uneven bars, balance beam and floor and at the end with the top-score of 172.754 points, they won in front of the British Team (170.663), clearly printed on the silver medal, which could take the lead only on the uneven bars. Russia, as expected won bronze with 169.329 points.
Great Britain’s elite  were shining with an incredible performance in Sofia: Hannah Whelan, Rebecca Downie, Rebecca Tunney, Claudia Fragapane and Ruby Harrold all contributed superb routines under high pressure for the team total of 170.663 points.

According to Russian team gold the qualification best junior Angelina MELNIKOVA underlined with a convincing all-around victory with 57.107 points today, that the young Russian power generation is in the correct Olympic track, even if it was the second starter Seda Tutkhalyan not succeed today to secure the double victory because she fell back on rank 7. But for Romania Laura JURCA confirmed her performance and was awarded  Vice European Junior Champion with a total score of 56.698 points.
The little Russian weakness took advantage with a personal increase the Briton Elissa DOWNIE and won the bronze medal with 55.332 points.

At these historically 35th Women's European Championships 2014 the first elite-day includes the qualifying for the team final of the top eight nations (Saturday) and for the individual apparatus finals on Sunday.
An all-around final is not a part of these Europens this year - as opposed to the juniors.
Great Britain’s Elite women's artistic gymnastics team produced a sensational performance in the qualification day in Sofia to top the team rankings! Hannah Whelan, Rebecca Tunney, Rebecca Downie, Ruby Harrold and Claudia Fragapane all contributed faultless routines to the team total of 172.147 points which saw them sit proudly at the top of the scoreboard ahead of Romania (171.130) and Russia (170.621).

On the opening day of this year's 35th Women's European Gymnastics Championships started with the Juniors Team competition.
Russian girls who particularly impressed on the uneven bars, sat down with 168.262 points ahead of the British team by, who won the silver medal with 165.005 points. With slight weakness on the uneven bars and in spite of the nations top ranking on the balance beam, the Romanians with 164.972 could not prevent the UK with 165.005 who was the best equipment on floor exercise and won the team silver medal.behind the Russians

Since 1957 (Bucharest), two years later then men, are performed Women's European Championships of artistic gymnastics. The first Europeans came from the Soviet Union (Larissa Latynina, 1957, '61), from Poland (Natalia Kot, 1959) and Yugoslavia (Mirjana Bilic, 1963).
Already 1965 Bulgaria's capital Sofia hosted the V. Europeans of artistic gymnastics, experienced the all-around victory of incomparable Vera Caslavska (CSR) and behind Larissa Latynina (URS) won Birgit Radochla (GDR) after Ingrid Föst (1961, Leipzig) already a second bronze medal for a German gymnast.
The times of the excellence Bulgarians are, however, quite a few years back: Your best was in Moscow (1987) Diana Dudeva, won jointly with Elena Shushunova (URS) the all-around bronze medal and behind Silivash Daniela (ROU) European Vice-Champion title on the uneven bars ...
