Three gymnasts tied for first place at the 1903 world championships, the first in the history of this sport: Georges Dejaghère and Joseph Lux, both of France, as well as the Dutch competitor Thyssen all scored 18,00 points. Swiss gymnasts Mack, Reusch and Stalder ruled on pommel horse in the 1930's.

After the Soviet gymnasts Shaginyan and Shakhlin dominated ruled in the 1950s, Slovenian Miroslav Cerar took three consecutive world titles between 1962 and 1970. Zoltan Magyar (HUN) followed in his foot steps by winning the same amount of world titles.
In the 1980's, Soviets, Germans and Hungarians took turns on the highest step of the podium, succeeded by the exceptional
Pae (PRK) and Li, Donghua (SUI). Currently, Romanian Marius Urzica is the master of the pommel horse universe despite only having won a single world title so far (in 1994), followed by the titles in 2001 and 2002.
But in Anaheim 2003 went two titles to Asian gymnasts: TENG, Haibin (CHN) and Takehiro Kashima (JPN). With Xiao, Qin China won again in Melbourne 2005, but also in Arhus 2006, and  he realized the hattrick in Stuttgart 2007.
ZHANG Hongtao
won the 6th Chinese title 2009 in London ...
23 ago the last Hungarian gymnast was Zsolt Borkai, together with Biloserchev, who won a gold medal on pommelhorse for Hungary - now, 2010 Krisztian Berki faught back the pommel horse title back , and after the Japanese Kohei Kameyama 2013 in Antwerp, Berki won his third World Title 2014 in Nanning and 2015 in Glasgow Max Whitlock - in front of his compatriot Louis Smith the first pommel gold and first British (men's) WCh title for Great Britain ever ...
Nine Years after London XIAO Ruoteng won the next chines Gold on Pommel horse
and he prevents the hat-trick of  Max Whitlock, but the British pommel specialist won his third gold in Stuttgart 2019!
Never before an US gymnast won WCh pommel gold: Stephen Nedoroscik has done it in 2021 Kitakyushu!
.Also the victory of Rhys MC CLENAGHAN 2022 in Liverpool had a historical dimension: First Irish gold on Pommel horse, but after winning the first title in Liverpool (2022) he defendet it in Antwerp (2023) successfully!
