$ 10 Millionen for paralyzed SANG Lan

The "Washington Post" reported, that a champion Chinese gymnast who was paralyzed in an accident at the 1998 Goodwill Games is grateful toward the United States after reaching a deal with insurance companies to provide her with medical care and rehabilitation in China, along with financial help, her lawyer said Tuesday.  The lawyer, Ming Hai, said he could not divulge details of the deal. Still, he said it will provide up to $10 million in cash and health care over the lifetime of the 30-year-old gymnast, Sang Lan, who crashed 1998, July 21 at the Goodwill Games in New York ...

Ariella KAESLIN - an absolute surprisingly Retiremen!

Ariella Kaeslin, Switzerland’s most successful-ever gymnast, has said today, she is quitting the sport just a year before the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

The popular 23-year-old from Lucerne, who was named Swiss Sportswoman of the Year a record three times in a row from 2008-2010, said she was struggling to reach the physical fitness needed for a professional athlete.
“Ultimately I would no longer have been able to compete in top-level sport. That would have meant that I couldn’t achieve aims which I set myself,” she said at a news conference on Monday in a Hotel in Lucerne.

Italy s Junior Team won a Friendly Meet at Home

Two weeks before the European Youth Olympic Festival in Trabzon (TUR; July 25 - 29) and two weeks after the Italian U 13-victory in Tittmoning (GER) the Italian femal junior team won a friendly meet of artistic gymnastics with a clearly difference in front of team Germany, followed by France and Switzerland.

Best in individual all-around was the Italian Elisa Meneghini (56,000) , followed by her teammate Francesca de Agostini (55,300), Erika Fasana (55,250) and Alessia Leolini (52,750). Best non-Italian gymnast was Nadine Schubert from Germany, who ranked on fifth place ...

Germany's Talents welcomed Gymnasts fom 
France, Great Britain, Italy and Switzerland

It is the very first German private GYM, which hosted the international meeting of the youngest femal artistic gymnasts representing five European countries this Saturday, June 25. 

The "GYM Tittmoning" in Bavaria (Germany) welcomed the U-13 national Teams of France, Great Britain, Italy and Switzerland to their very first international event - may be the start for the 2016 new Olympic generation for some of the young participants.
It's a traditional event, based on a contract between four of these nations, added by the Brits as the 2012 Olympic host.

Swiss Olympic Champion Karl Frei passed away ...

The Swiss Gymnastics Federation informs that the gymnast Karl Frei, 94 years old, passed away on June 18. He was the oldest living swiss Olympic Champion. In 1948, at the London Olympic Games, Karl Frei was awarded the Gold medal on Rings, the best achievement of his career. He was a member of the famous Swiss Dream Team after the world war years, together with Walter Lehmann, Josef Stalder, Christian Kipfer, Michael Reusch. Karl Frei was also one of most serious opponent of international champions like Paavao Altonen from Finland, or Guido Figone from Italy.

At men's and women's elite category the titleholder from 2010 fdefendet their title:
Celine van Gerner as the local hero of Heerenveen won wih a score of 55,750, in front of her clubmate Joy Goedkoop (55,400) and Wyomi Masela (51,950) on third place...
On men's side Anthony van Assche (Zwijndrecht) was succussful with a score of 82,950,  followed by his clubmate Melvin Omek and Glenn Smink ((Haarlemmermeer). High bar European Championice Epke Zonderland won the gold medals on parallel bars and high bar ...

The International Gymnastics Federation F.I.G.  is organising a symposium for Artistic and Trampoline Gymnastics aiming for future development in Code of Points in these disciplines starting June 17th.

"Now is the time for you as an athlete affected by the Code to express your feelings and ideas for next four year cycle regarding Code in these disciplines",
wrote Finland's Jani Tanskanen, president of the FIG Athletes Commission and former world champion on high bar (1997).

Olympic Champion Karin Buettner-Janz elected in German Hall of Fame

The two times Olympic gold medallist from Munich 1972, the medic Prof. Dr. Karin JANZ, was elected as a new member of the national "Hall of Fame" of German sports yesterday in the Hotel "Adlon" in Berlin, together with a prominent line of another top stars from East and West between the time from 1947 to 1972.
So the Hall of Fame includes now 66 person of German sports history.
After the Oly,pic champions Carl Schuhmann (1896) Alfred Schwarzmann (1936) and Helmut BANTZ (1956) Janz is the fourth,  but first femal gymnast, now.
Olympic Track and Field Olympic Champion Heide Ecker-Rosendahl (Munich 1972) was awarded with the "Golden Pyramid of Sports" by the "German Sports aids" organization.

Australia dominate on girls, Great Britain on boys - Portugal take 2011 Gymsport Cup

The second edition of Gymsport Artistic Gymnastics International Tournament 2011 was a big success!
Joining almost 80 gymnasts from 13 countries and 4 continents, the competition had a very nice atmosphere and a very good level.
<< In the girls’ competition, Australia dominated the scene, winning in both individual categories and team. Making a very regular tournament, but not winning in any event, Emma Nedov was the best on junior all-around with 52,100.

The Gymsport Cup
, for the best delegation, summing scores from male and female competitions, was won by Portugal, who was second on girls and 6th on boys.

Spanish Marta Calleja, from EGAD Los Cantos Alcorcón, finished second with 46,250, while small but fast Tunisian Saker Chad was the third with 46,150.

Australia (Alexandra Eade and Emma Nedov) won easily the team competition, with a total of 104,450, well ahead from Portuguese team who became second with 95,350 and Le Reveil de Bettembourg, from Luxembourg, who finished third with 91,550.

Great Britain
showed big superiority on boys, winning on every field.
On juniors, Dominic Cunningham was the best with an impressive total of 82,500, having the most difficult program of all gymnasts and the best execution sum. Cunningham was also the best in four events:
floor (14,200), rings (13,500), vault (14,750) and high bar (13,900).

<< Spanish Borja Torregosa (* photo, left) from Club Gimnastico San Blas, was the second with 78,750 and had the top score on pommel horse (12,950).
Turkish Ibraim Colak was the third with 77,800, and was the best on rings (13,500 exaequo with Cunningham) and parallel bars (13,900).
