Jani TANSKANEN: The voice of the gymnasts!

*fig-press--: Leaders in international sports were invited to Lausanne (SUI) for the annual International Federations Sports Forum, organised in 2009 by SportAccord.
The event provides a platform where participants can debate a range of sport-related issues and attend workshops; this year’s topics focused on financial resources and youth and sports. In an effort to fully develop the topic of youth and sports, organisers invited Jani Tanskanen (FIN), recently elected to the FIG Athletes’ Commission, to speak about the relationship between a federation and its athletes. Responsible for Artistic Gymnastics within his own federation, Tanskanen shared his experiences with a highly attentive audience.

British Training Camp Disability Gymnastics in Germany successfully finished ....

The third International training camp of the British gymnastics federation, after South Africa and Gran Canaria (2008) , which took place during the last weeks for the first time in Germany on the grounds of the Bundesleistungszentrums Kienbaum, finished successfully and highly rated, on the weekend.  Also the DOSB-vice-president Eberhard GIENGER got an idea of the level of development of the British, as also the new consultant for apparatus and trampoline gymnastics of the German gymnastics federation, Ann-Katrin KNITTEL, who was intensively involved with the structures and possibilities on site, and is working on offering, also in Germany, ambitious training and apparatus for the three olympics disciplines. This seminar, which was initiated by the ex-gymnast Ronny Ziesmer as the patron and supported by his partners, the Daimler Corporation , will surely find supporters and followers...

The Vice President of the 'German Olympic Sports Federation' (DOSB), Eberhard Gienger, among the participants of rhythmic gymnastics from Irland, Norway and Great Britain

From Norway came Katelyn Garbin, Mathilde Falch and Kristin Augdahl - all of them enthused by rhythmic gymnastics

which do not leave space for feeling sorry for particular impairments...!
For achievement orientated gymnasts, the Brits even have a national trainer!
<< Kay GALTER (left) is in this position since 8 years and explains the structure and the ideao to Eberhard Gienger, how ambitious options can heighten the self-confidence of young girls. Therefore particularly rhythmic gymnastics offers the best possibilities.

Gracefull was also the tighlty organised warm up programme of the gymnasts. Here, where otherwise the seminars of the German National team take place, the Dutch acted in the foregroundBo Dominicus from Tilburg as displaying gymnast.
Bo is in standard 7, was born deaf and must be the only gymnast, with such a handicap, to perform on all four Olympics apparati !

The ex-high-bar world champion Eberhard Gienger let Bo Dominicus' home trainer Ester LEON (left) expalin, which specifications have to be considered during training.  "If one wants to bring the system of the British to Germany, then one has to really test, which structural and logistic things belong to the environment and also to the taking over of responsibility, and where one wants to go with such new, athletic contents," - said the contemplative "sports politician" Gienger!

Ann-Katrin Knittel (DTB),
Hazel Coates (British Gymnastics)

... to open the way for gymnastics - also for German children and youth - despite physical or psychological handicaps !
We are standing in front of a great challenge in this field, which surely will not be achievable from one day to the next, first we need trainers in particular areas, which have to be especially sensitized and trained.
The Brits have showed me, however that above all, one cannot be afraid, to set oneself these new tasks, because at the end of the day, there are few differences in actual training : It is not about a person being handicapped, but about showing this person, which forms of possible movement this person has!
I think it is still a little early, to think about a competition or championship system. First of all it is important to make aware in cooperation with the German disability federation, that also handicapped have the chance to do gymnastics! Foremost my goal is to follow through a special day in schoold for the handicapped or a holiday camp as well as sensitizing trainers, to deal with this field and to get specific training for this.
I think in cooperation with the Brits and through their offer to help us with our aims, a further training for trainers with a following training camp is definitely possible!
... and who knows, maybe we will also manage to build up our own competition system some day and to offer the Brits competition... they would surely be happy about competition, as Hazel Coates has mentioned!"

Eberhard Gienger (58) with his tie flying in the air - on the high-bar in Kienbaum - amazed Brits!

27th DTB CUP 2009: China s men winning three titles

With in total three of the possible six World Cup wins in the mens, China proved to be the most successful nation at the 27th  DTB-Cup 2009 in the Porsche Arena in Stuttgart, the last competition of the FIG-World Cup Series of the year.
World champion ZHANG Hongtao was in control on the pommel horse, Olympic winner CHEN, Yibing at the rings and the uneven bars champion WANG Guanyin was unbeatable on the beam.
The rest of the apparati successes went, on the floor to the ex-world champion Diego HYPOLITO (BRA) and to each of the vice world champions Flavius KOCZI (ROU) vault and Epke ZONDERLAND (NED) on the highbar.
Most successful German gymnasts were Matthias FAHRIG with second place with vault and Marcel NGUYEN as third on the uneven bars  ...

____________________________________________

With the ex floor world champion Diego Hypolito (BRA), the current pommel horse champion from London, Zhang Hongtao and rings Olympic champion Chen Yibing (both China), proved specialists and favorites placed themselves , on the first three mens apparati, on the top of the pre-competitions lists at the 27. DTB-trophy.
But there are further high class competititors like Marian Dragulescu, the Australian Sellathurai or Pluschnikow from Russia, amongst the qualified ...
But from the perspective of the hosts, only Matthias Fahrig on the floor (4.) and Thomas Taranu on the rings managed to bring themselves amongst the 8 each final  after half of the apparati.
Marcel Nguyen failed as 10th on the floor.
Sebastian Krimmer was 12th at his world cup premiere in Stuttgart and the Berliner Philipp Sorrer 18th of the pommelhorse competition ...

* Vault:
In part 2 of the mens qualifications the Hallenser vault expert and European Championship third Matthias Fahrig became the second contact to the leading vice- world champion Flavius KOCZI, whilst world champion Dragulescu surprisingly did not perform, and qulified over is country person Berbecar as the second Romanian.
Hollands Jeffrey Wammes fell, Hypolito like the Canadian Gafunk also managed to get into the final round...

* Parallel bars-world champion WANG Guanyin (CHN) doesnt let anything burn: the highest class and most elegant excersise of the day (6.8; final score: 16,175) -  almost one point (!) advantage over Marcel Nguyen (GER), who finaly showed his skill and elegance again on his apparatus...
Slowenias spcialist Mitja Petkovsek did not attend...!

* High bar-Olympic first-finalist and current vice world champion Epke Zonderland convinced with his strong performance, leading ahead of Hamilton Sabot (FRA) and Samuel Piasecki (SVK)... after vault fall Jeffrey Wammes does still lie ahead of Marcel Nguyen by a half thenth from the final field: The Unterhachinger is 9th, Austrias Fabian Leimlehner 11th and the Berliner Philipp Sorrer 17th (after Kovacs-fall) in the 29 man strong high bar competition.
Ex-champion Aljaz Pegan falls sadly during his own creation, the  "Pegan"-salto, which seldomly happens, then nothing worked for him any more...

27th DTB-TROPHY, Women: The winners came from four different countries ...

The manageable start field of the women - not nearly as internationally high class in comparison to the mens competition, at the 27th DTB-Trophy 2009 saw four different winners from four different nations, in the almost sold out Porsche Arena in Stuttgart on the finals day.
One of the happy faces belonged to the German all-around champion Kim BUI, who won on the uneven bars, got second place on the floor and with third position bacame the most successful gymnast in these last world cups of the season.
The high class vault duel was between by the eldest competitor - the Czech Jana KOMRSKOVA against the Swiss Ariella KAESLIN was decided by Komrskova. The beam was conquered by Romanias young star Ana PORGRAS ahead of the German newcomer Maike ROLL and on the floor - a pleasure to see Elisabeth SEITZ from Mannheim, place herself as third behind the Chinese winner SUI Lu and Kim BUI.

SUI Lu (CHN): in Cottbus (spring) also only marginally ahead of Kim Bui

Ronny Ziesmer opens British training camp in KienbaumIncredible achievements of handicaped gymnasts on the gymnastics apparatuses

Until 20 years and one day ago, it would have been practically impossible for unauthorised peoples or foreigners to set foot onto the terrain of the past  'Sports school of the GDR " in Kienbaum .
Berlins gymnastics president  Frank Ebel reminded of this fact today, during the opening of the I. International Gymnastics Trainings Camp for handicapped sportsmen/women in Germany  , which was organised by the British gymnastics federation and was used by guests from Belgium, Norway and the Netherlands.

<< Germany's ex-gymnast of the national team , Ronny Ziesmer, (Photo: seminar opening) supports the British efforts and concepts, to offer gymnastics as a competition chance also for the handicapped and today opened the seminar in the particular hall, where his devastating accident happened over 5 years ago...

As a good example the 'Branchenmanagement Behindertenfahrzeuge der Daimler AG supports this seminar and has taken over the eintire bus transfer of this seminarweek

The Bundesleistungszentrum Kienbaum offers the British guests modern accomodation and best conditions around the clock

Ronny, beeindruckt von der Arbeit 'am Mann'

<< In terms of the German gymnastics father Jahn, who once used the balance beam not far from Kienbaum in der Hasenheide of Berlin (1811) as a means to train balance, the modern balance beam seves the girls with different handicaps (see photo), to build off their deficits through focused training and especially to perform with confidence, to create physical and psychological super potentials.

Age classes and handicapped-just competition forms, form good challenged there. British country championships of handicapped gymnast experiences already exist , which one happily offers the interested national associations.

For this part of the training camp the Fa. Eurotramp from Weilheim-Teck - whose high tech apparati stood just this week in the trampoline gymnastics European championships in  St. Petersburg -  allowed for the application of trampoline apparati in Kienbaum.

The Berliner "Mr. Trampolin" Uwe Wochnowski (Mitte) from the Lichtenrader Verein, supports here the British coach  Paul Coates at the longen-training with a British sportswoman, who attempted her summersaults.
The avoidance of failures is important for the sensitive trainings process, as well as many achievements, the personal getting over difficulties and the gaining of  coordinative capabilities for the orientation of the room.

... one week intense training stands before the international guests from Great Britain, Belgium, Norway and the Netherlands, who want to optimally use the commended logistic conditions of the German Bundesleistungszentrums Kienbaum.

<< Visitng todays seminar opening, as an extremely interested consultant was the renomated Doctor and Medical Director of the Unfallkrankenhaus ( accident hospital) Berlin. Prof. Dr. med. Walter SCHAFFARTZIK (ri.), who here informed himself in a technical conversation with  Ronny ZIESMER about the many sided possibilities, through the uses of the variations of gymnastics disciplines for focused encouragement of the handicapped.

Still in November 2009 Ronny Ziesmer in cooperation with UKB will inform the participants of the 6. Symposium top-level sports  about the contents and results of this seminar, in the Berliner Paul-Löbe-Haus.

Spieth Gymnastic and the FIG

FIG President Prof Bruno Grandi recently presented Mr Uli Spieth, Director of Spieth Gymnastic, with a copy of the book prefaced with his De Arte Gymnastica; Spieth has been an official FIG partner and apparatus supplier for nearly 54 years. The gift is a token of the exemplary collaboration that has spanned multiple generations.
From its production site in Esslingen (GER) near Stuttgart, the company was swift to expand its export business beyond its own borders. In 1956, it supplied organisers of the Melbourne Olympic Games with its first apparatus, the wooden Reuther springboard.

British delegation starts impressive Kienbaum trainings camp

Right now on Sunday night the British delegation of handicapped sportsmen has landed at the Berlin Tempelhof airport.
These will attend an International trainings camp for Disability Gymnastics  from the 9th until the 14th of November 2009 in the Bundesleistungszentrum Kienbaum.
The sportsmen are cases with various handicaps, who particularly perform in the Olympic disciplines of apparati and trampoline gymnastics as well as rhythmic gymnastics competitions. The Brits have been at the top of this league since two decades, have developed an impressive educational and competition system and are aiming to internationalize their ideas.
Ronny ZIESMER, Germany's former member of national team, wants to support them in this...

* Ronny Ziesmer succeeded to organize, that his Sponsor,
the Daimler Management for Cars for Handicaped People
gave its support
Himself will work as a Patron to internationalize the British ideas.

Notable British Initiative!

On Monday, 9. November,  the camp will be opened.
Reception and meet and greet of the guests at the request of the DTB will be held by the President of the Berlin Gymnastics Federation Frank Ebel, who supported the Brits already at the information visit in spring 2009 .
A great technical interest is also shown by Europes most modern accident hospital, the "UKB" Berlin, whose Director Doctor , Professor Dr. med. Walter Schaffartzik personally will greet the guests in the gymnastics hall in Kienbaum on Monday.
He was already at the side of  Ronny Ziesmers , when the Cottbuser 2004 - shortly before the Olympic games, had to be operated in the UKB.
