Belarus extented contract with shoe label I W A

Extention of contract

The Byelorussian Gymnastics Federation and the German company "IWA Gymnastics" - worldwide wellknown producer of gymnastics shoes - extended their outfitter contract for the next Olympic period until London 2012.
Today Mr. Andrei FEDOROV from the Belarus and the IWA Managing director, Mr. Dieter WAHL signed the contracts in Crailshaim, Germany.

So the gym shoe label "IWA" will stay in this very successfully partnership from 2000 on, also for the next four years...

25th Anniversary in 2007

The German Co. IWA-Gymnastics
 was founded in 1982 in Crailsheim, Germany, depending on a traditional old shoe producing, back to the Shoe Factory "Moebius", founded in 1924, already.

Experience, technical know how and the permanent control of quality are the results of this development.
In the year 2000 IWA built a new and modern producing hall with storage facilities and is now one of the leading gymnastic shoes' label, worldwide.

The Romanian artistic gymnastics women's team, without its stars Izbasa and Nistor, won the triple meet in Schwaebisch Gmuend, near Stuttgart  (Germany) with a score of 231,250 points, in front of host Germany (230,150) and France (25,80).
German gymnasts surprised with a top score on uneven bars (61,650), based on a world class competitions of Marie-Sophie Hindermann (Start value 17.4; final: 16.000) and Anja Brinker (15.950), but lost the leading position after the Rumanian balance beam subdivision (60.150)  at the very last rotation!

Best in all-around was the French  Marine Petit with 58,600 in front  Gabriela Dragoi (58,50; ROU)) and her teammate  Andreea Acatrinei (57,850), together with the best German gymnast Kim Bui, who is the Olympic substitute gymnast, only...!

USA gymnast tests positive, THE FIG WILL NOT APPEAL

 Lausanne (SUI) FIG Office: --- The United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) announced on July 3, 2008 that gymnast Morgan Hamm (artistic), tested positive for triamcinolone acetonide (glucocorticostreroïd) on May 24, 2008, accepted a public warning for this first offence.
The doping offence involved the use of a prescribed anti-inflammatory medication under the care of a physician, but without first seeking a therapeutic use exemption as required by the applicable rules. Case in hand, the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG) called for a meeting of its Disciplinary Commission on July 27 – 28, 2008, in keeping with standard procedure. Two representatives of USA Gymnastics and two of the World Anti-doping Agency were invited to the meeting. At the close of discussions and following recommendations put forth by the Disciplinary Commission, the FIG Presidential Commission decided not to appeal the USADA’s decision.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.: – USA Gymnastics has received notification from the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) regarding Morgan Hamm’s positive drug test and resulting public warning.
USA Gymnastics will review this situation to determine how this may impact his qualification to the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team. The British Becky DOWNIE took her first senior all-around title to be crowned British Women’s Artistic Champion, which were held last weekend in Guildford.
 The Nottingham gymnast scored 59.650 to take the title with Heathrow’s Rebecca Wing in second on 56.800 and City of Liverpool’s Hannah Whelan in Bronze with 56.100.
Being the third Olympic Trial the pressure on all the girls was immense and the atmosphere in the Guildford Spectrum electric ...
Seven-time British all-around champion Beth Tweddle, a 2004 Athens Olympian competed only on uneven bars at the these British National Championships ...

The two gymnastics clubs of the Romanian capital Bucharest, Dinamo I bei den (men) Steaua  (women) where the winner of the 2008 Romanian's team championships last weekend in Ploesti (ROU).
European beam champion Sandra IZBASA was the predominant in all-around, scoring 62,350 points and she reached top scores at all of the four apparatuses.
On men's side the all-around seventh placed at the last Worlds in Stuttgart, Flavius KOCZI was the only one gymnast scoring more than 90 points (91,550), followed by Razvan SELARIU (89,550).
Marian Dragulescu competed floor exercise, vault and high bar with highest scores He missed the 2007 Worlds and 2008 Europeans with a back injury ...

The gymnastics veteran and Russian-born Frenchman Dmitri Karbanenko and China's Yang Yilin won the all-around titles at the French Open Championships, held last weekend in Toulon, France.
Karbanenko (Orleans), who will celebrate his 35th birthday (!) next month), successfully defended his 2007 title over Arnaud Willig (Sotteville).
Benoit Caranobe's 16.550 on vault was the highest score of the day.
With a high score of 16.650 on uneven bars, Yang Yilin narrowly defeated teammate Jiang Yuyuan, the reigning Chinese national all-around champion, for the title in Toulon....

Double winner in Spain

At the traditional  33 anniversary of the "Memorial Joaquim Blume 2008" in Vilanova ila Geltrù , Spain the Chinese gymnasts won four of the six men's finals:
ZHENG, Hongtao dominated on pommel horse in front of  the European Champion Berki (HUN), YAN, Mingyong on rings, followed by Plushkin (RUS), FENG, Zhe on parallel bars beat Piasecki (SVK); European champion Petkovsek came on fifth place, only) and GUO, Weiyang won against the European high bar specialists Pegan (SLO) and Maras (GRE). 
On floor the victory went to  Eleftheriadis KOSMIDIS (GRE) followed by Deviatovski (RUS) and on vault the Spanish hosts jubilated about Isaac BOTELLA in front of Gonzales from Chile.
Also two victories on beam and floor went to the Chinese Olympic hosts, to  the vice-world champion  LI, Shanshan. ...


Elsa Garcia (vault) and her Mexican teammate Marisela Cantu (uneven bars) were the other two winners on women's side...

David SENDER of Arlington Heights, Ill., won the men’s all-around title at the 2008 Visa Championships at Reliant Park in Houston.

The 2007 All-around world champion Shawn Johnson (West Des Moines, Iowa/Chow’s Gymnastics) successfully defended her U.S. all-around and floor exercise titles at the 2008 USA National Visa Championships at Agganis Arena at Boston University.
Nineteen women qualified to compete at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Gymnastics, scheduled for June 19-22 in Philadelphia. 
13 gymnasts were named to the 2008-09 U.S. Senior National Team and will compete at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Gymnastics, June 19-22 at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia.
