The reigning world champion, Hiroyuki Tomita, won the NHK Cup with a very big margin.
Even with new routines for the new code, Manami Ishizaka was still the most stable and reliable gymnast. She won her fourth consecutive NHK Cup...!
Bronze medalist Takuya Nakase and Naoya Tsukahara, fourth, will also compete in Aarhus.
The top four men's gymnasts after the NHK Cup automatically qualified for the world championships, and the other two gymnasts qualified through a point system.

On women's side Manami Ishizaka was still the most stable and reliable gymnast. She won her fourth consecutive NHK Cup! Her only mistake was a hand support on an acrobat element on beam on the second day.
The runner up was Miki Uemura, the national champion last year. She was not confident on her weak event, floor exercise (unstable landings on both days), but maintained the difficulty in her routines on uneven bars and beam according to the current code.

Malaysian Top gymnast wishes a personal coach

Malaysian Commonwealth Games silver medallist Ng Shu Wai hopes that his plea for a personal coach will be fulfilled by the time he returns from the Asian Gymnastics Championship in Surat, India, next month.
After returning to Malaysia four months ago to compete in the Commonwealth Games in March, Shu Wai, who is based in China, is still waiting to return to his second home.
The 20-year-old gymnast says the sooner the better, as he is preparing for two major championships this year; the World Championships in Denmark in October, and the Doha Asian Games in December.
'I hope that by the time I return from the competition in India, I will hear some good news about my new coach. I’m not complaining about training in Malaysia as I am under the tutelage of Zhang Jun here whom I don’t have a problem with. 'But getting exposure from abroad is invaluable and a rare opportunity. Plus I am preparing for two major events this year....', said Shu Wai....

For the Asian Championships, Shu Wai hopes to be a medallist this time, after he finished fourth in the IAAF in Guangzhou, China in 2003.

Baby boy arrives for Comaneci, Conner

Nadia Comaneci and Bart Conner are the parents of a baby boy
Dylan Paul was born Saturday in an Oklahoma City hospital, weighing 4 pounds, 10 ounces. It's the first child for the gold-medal winning gymnasts, so the Oklahoma newspapers reported yesterday.
Comaneci was due to deliver in July, which will be the 30th anniversary of her seven perfect 10s at the Montreal Olympic Games. But the 44-year-old Comaneci instead delivered Dylan by Caesarean section Saturday morning.
The delivery room staff created a poster proclaiming the boy a ``perfect 10.''
