Japan dominates the Men s competitions of 4th ASIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS 2008

At the first men's competion day of the 4th ASIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS 2008, which take place in Doha, capital of Qatar, the national team of JAPAN won the gold medal with 365.200 points clearly in front of the team of the REPUBLIC of KOREA (348,800). The bronze medal went to the team of the PEOPLES REPUBLIC of KOREA (341,050). Also the new all-around champion came from Japan: Koji YAMAMURO (91,850) beat his teammate Yousuke HOSHI (90,700) followed by the South-Korean KIM, Soo Myun (90,000).
At the las final day Yousuke HOSHI won two more gold medals on pararallel bars and high bar and is the most successful gymnast of these Champs...
Altogether 13 men's national team took part - without the Olympic gold medallist China...

2008 Asian Champs: North Korean RI, Se Gwang creates a new Jump ...!

At the first competition day of the 4th Asian Gymnastics Championships 2008 started with a special "beat of a drum".
The bronze medallist at the 2007 World Championships on vault, the North Korean RI, Se Gwan, created as the very first gymnast of the world at the vaulting table "Pegases", a handspring double somersault piked, to ther first time with a half turn (!) (- the "Blanik" + 1/2 rotation),
With the picked version of this jump (- of the tucked "Rochè"), the Polish inventor of this difficulty, Leszek BLANIK, won the gold medal at the last years Worlds, but also at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

Exhibition to Mark 110th Anniversary of Birth of Leon Stukelj

The exhibition "Leon Stukelj 1898-1999-2008" in memory of Slovenia's most famous Olympic medalist was open this week on Leon Stukelj's 110th birthdate in his hometown Novo mesto this week.

The documentary exhibition and booklet outlines Stukelj's life and achievements in sports. 
Two times Slovenian Olympic pommel horse champian Miroslav Cerar officially opened the exhibition.

LEON STUKELJ - the first Slovenian Olympic champion and medal winner, died in 1999, November 8, some days before his 101st birthday...

The leading US Gymnastics Magazine "International Gymnast" reports this week, that the former Soviet women's head coach Alexander ALEXANDROV will returnt to Russia, after 15 years leaving and working in USA, to take over as head coach of the Russian women's team, taking over for Victor GAVRICHENKOV.

WORLD CUP: 26th DTB-POKAL, Men s Competitions ...

Barely hundred gymnasts, representing 35 nations took part at the 26th DTB-POKAL 2008, a world cup event (category A), which was held in the PORSCHE arena of Stuttgart, Germany.
After the Friday's women's qualification the men's rounds followed at afternoon.
Specially the German hosts made a very good job:
Matthias Fahrig, from the German club "SV Halle", leads at the floor exercise and the vault and his teammate and world champion on high bar, Fabian Hambuechen (KTV Straubenhardt), was the best at his special apparatus.
Altogether seven final rankings the Germans reached for the Saturday's final decisions.
<< But at the end of the Saturday's finals the Chinese athletes won three - the German Fabian HAMBÜCHEN two apparatuses, alone...

Three men's  - four women's victories
Altogether 40 gymnasts, representing 18 nations take part at the today's qualification rounds of the world cup event, the 26th DTB-POKAL 2008, in Stuttgart, Germany.
At the Friday's world cup qualification rounds the Chinese CHENG, Fei led at three of the four apparatuses ...
and also after the Saturday's final she won al these three decisions as the most successfully gymnast. Her teammate HE, Ning completed the total Chinese triumph, winning on uneven bars.
All the men's and women's world cup final events took at Saturday,
because the German host will celebrate a new modus of an all-around "Champions Trophy" on Sunday, a special invitational competition with eight men, only ...

PREVIEW: 4th ASIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS 2008

The 4th Senior Artistic Gymnastics Asian Championships  of the AGU is going to be held at the "Aspire Dome" of Doha, Qatar,  from 15th to 18th November 2008.
To be organised by Qatar Gymnastics Federation (QGF) under the aegis of Asian Gymnastics Union (AGU), the four day championships will have participation of more than 260 delegates from 20 countries including hosts Qatar.
On 14th November, gymnasts started their training and for meeting for judges and officials and at the first time the "AGU" organized also a scientific seminar concerning scientific aspect in gymnastics ...
The Men's competions start at Saturday, November 15 ...

From November 7 to November 9 was held the Artistic Gymnastics "2008 World Cup "GRAND PRIX OSTRAVA" in the Czech Republic.

On women's side three titles went to China, also the men's winner on pommel horse came from the last Olympic hosts,
but also two victors came from the Netherlands and from Slovakia and the only one non-Chinese winner was the Hungarian Dorina BOCZOGO (vault) ...
