World Games 2013 - Düsseldorf and Duisburg do it again!

The cities of Duisburg and Düsseldorf want to host the World Games 2013 together! Yesterday, Adolf Sauerland, mayor of Duisburg, and Düsseldorf's mayor Joachim Erwin presented their plans for the application for the World Games of the non-Olympic disciplines. "We are convinced to get a sportive highlight to the region of Rhein-Ruhr with the World Games", said mayor Sauerland. "The regional capital offers a supreme basis for the World Games 2013 with its perfect sportive and transportation infrastructure"...


In March 2008, the International World Games Association  (IWGA) will come to a decision about the placing of the 9th World Games with over 30 disciplines and about 3500 athletes from about 100 nations. Both mayors were confident to get the acceptance of the IWGA.

 

>> Among the participating disciplines are the gymnastics disciplines Rhythmic gymnastics, Trampoline gymnastics, Aerobic gymnastics, Acrobatics and Tumbling as well as Hall hockey, Korfball, Livesaving, Orienteering, Rollsport, Rugby, Sports climbing, Sumo, Surfing, Tug of war or Water ski.

Joachim Erwin sees better prospects in an application together with Duisburg than in a remake of the World Games of 2005. Duisburg's mayor Mr Sauerland emphasized the organizational improvement in the World Games which can be achieved by the cooperation with Düsseldorf. Düsseldorf did not only contribute to the application with their competence as host of important sports events, but also possesses convenient sports venues, such as the LTU arena, the Philipshalle, ISS Dome, Burgwächter Castello and the Rheinbad and the fair trade halls. In the LTU arena in Düsseldorf the final event is supposed to take place. In the MSV-Arena in Duisburg the eleven days of the World Games in summer 2013 are supposed to be inaugurated. 
>> During the talks with the German Olympic Sports Federation (DOSB), the Ministry of the Interior and the state of North Rhine-Westphalia they received positive feedback to the application plans, said Erwin. The president of the IWGA, Ron Froehlich, is informed about the initiative as well, says Sauerland.

47 th BLUME Anniversary - a new big Success!
For more than one week the "International Gymnastics Festival 50+" (IGF 50+)-  followed by the  "47th BLUME GRAN CANARIA FESTIVAL with altogether 7.000 participants dominates the fascinating "Island of eternal Spring" with a lot of shows, workshops and events, full of happiness and joyfulness.

Preparations for the World Gymnaestrade and for "Blume Gran Canaria"
The head of the Spanish organizing committee for the "47. Blume Gran Canaria Festival", the Spaniard Jesus TELO,  met members of staff and supervisors from various countries in the Czech town of Most..
Just a few days before the opening of the World Gymnaestrada the presentation  of the Spanish organizers of the world famous "BLUME Festival Gran Canaria" in the Austrian town of Dornbirn was dicussed, as well as the preparation of further interesting events and the festival itself...

Ronny ZIESMER: Ambassador of the 'Blume-Festival'

Together with the Spanish Canary organizing committee the former member of the German national gymnastics team Ronny ZIESMER invites all those who love sports worldwide to participate in the 47th edition of the 'BLUME-Festival Gran Canaria 2007', which commemorates Joaquim BLUME, who was European gymnastics champion four times over in Paris in 1957 and died in an accident at the end of the fifties of the last century.
Because of the great success in the last years the organizers will once again combine this festival of gymnastics with '2nd International Gymnastics Festival 50+' for active sportspeople of over 50 years of age...!

Tove PAULE (NOR)

The Norwegian Gymnastics Federation informed that Mrs. Tove PAULE  has been elected President of the Norwegian Sports Federation and the Olympic Committee. 
A long time Tove Paule occupied the position of General Secretary of the Norwegian Gymnastics Federation NGTF and as an international judge.
She was especially involved in the organization of the 1996 European Championships of rhythmic gymnastics in Asker and also a Norwegian delegate at numerous UEG Congresses. Tove Paule has been brilliantly elected with 96 votes vs her adversary (65 votes) for the period 2007-2011. This position is the highest within Norwegian sport. (source: UEG)
