Night of the Champs-Showteam at LAUREUS SPORTS AWARD

STAGE SET FOR GYMNASTICS SPECTACULAR AT LAUREUS WORLD SPORTS AWARDS CEREMONY:
- Triple Olympic champion Sergej Charkov one of the star turns
- ‘Balletic’ programme highlighted by gymnastic wheels and power skips
Multiple world champion Wolfgang Bientzle and 15 other German gymnasts provided a spectacular programme of assorted gymnastics during the fourth annual Laureus World Sports Awards ceremony on the night of Tuesday, May 20......


“We’re always ambitious on this show and we have introduced a sporting element for the last two years. First it was ice-skating and then last year it was BMX and skateboarding. This year we’ve got the beauty of gymnastics in the show, proving that sport can be beautiful to watch as well as exciting and in-your-face.”

The Awards ceremony, which was watched by a global television audience of 320 million, was hosted by a great sporting legend and member of the Laureus World Sports Academy, tennis star John McEnroe, who will be joined by top European actress Desiree Nosbusch.

The Laureus World Sports Awards has established a unique place in the sporting calendar, honouring the greatest sportsmen and sportswomen from around the world and across all sports.

The City of Leipzig is the official German Candidate for the Olympics 2012

Today in the Hilton Hotel of Munich took place the election of the National Olympic Committee of Germany for the official candidate for the Olympic Games 2012.
The City of Leipzig - worldwide wellknown as a city of sports, of a lot of German Gymnastics Festivals and the former location of the famous 'German High school of Physical Culture' (DHfK) - won against Hamburg, Duesseldorf, Frankfurt and Stuttgart.
The location of the Olympic sailing events will be Rostock/Warnemuende.
Leipzig has also a big tradition of German gymnastics history.

From the beginning of February on a group of wellknown and international successful German sportsmen - among of them 62 Olympic Champions and a lot of German medal winners of world or European Championships - started an initiative for peace with an 'APPEAL for PEACE'. >> Today the list of 546 signatures of top-athletes from 25 different disciplines was transmitted to the peace center of UNITED NATIONS. Also 7 Olympic Champions of artistic gymnastics and a lot of Germans gymnasts are among of them. OPEN for sportsmen from all over the World!

NTB-Gala: Firework of Gymnastics Art

The Gymnastics Federation of Niedersachsen (NTB/Germany) presents its show 'Firework of Gymnastics Art' in the last three of all together 12 cities, in Goettingen, Braunschweig and at last on Sunday in Bielefeld.
The former world champion on rings (1989), Andreas AGUILAR as the moderator presents from December, to January, 12th all together 19 events. The theme of the gala of this year is 'Daydream'. This special NTB-Firework of Gymnastics Art is the most successful gymnastics show in Europe.

German Super Stars vote for Peace!

Germany s most successful gymnast of the last century, Dr. Karin Buettner-JANZ signed the 'Appeal for Peace', also like the cycling Superstar Jan ULLRICH. Now 64 Olympic Champions and near 600 German medal winners of 26 different disciplines signed the 'APPEAL for PEACE' , which was transmitted to the peace center of UNITED NATIONS.
On the top of the list are the gymnasts (more like 120 votes), cyclists, canoeists and athletes (track and field).
The list is OPEN for sportsmen from all over the World!

BLUME-Festival Gran Canaria: Countdown is going on!

Only four weeks left than in Gran Canaria (Spain) the 47th International Festival BLUME - Gran Canaria will happend from November 24th to December 2nd. Many participants from all over the world take part on this popular and biggest Festival of non competitive General Gymnastics with the message of these days: "Enjoying the fascination of gymnastics
together".

After the very successful International Gymnastik Festival 50+ (IGF 50+) last years will follow the 2nd competition before BLUME-festival.
