Benefit Gala for Ronny Ziesmer

About 6,000 visitors came on Saturday to the special 'Ronny Ziesmer Benefit Gala' to the Berlin's Max Schmeling Hall.
All together 100,000 EURO was the financial result of a big show program, in favour of the gymnast Ronny Ziesmer, who is paralyzed after a vaulting crash at July 12 in preparation for the Olympic Games.
A lot of German top stars, like the swimmer Franziska van Almsick, the cyclist Jens Fiedler came to this shof of the German Gymnastics Federation DTB. Special guests were also FIG-President Bruno Grandi and UEG-President Dimitrios Dimitropolous and more tha 20 Olympic and world shampions from different countries....

DTB-Cup Stuttgart: 2 victories for Hambüchen

The International DTB-Cup in Stuttgart has ended. On the 2nd finales' day the men presented their finales on floor, parallel bars and high bar and the women competed on beam and vault.
The fist victory of the day went to Mitja Petkovsek from Slovenia who won the parallel bars final which overall took place on a very high level of performance. Alexandra Eremia secured herself the victory in the beam finale with a very difficult routine. The tension in the venue was incredible and the crowd was thrilled during the high-bar finale where Fabian Hambüchen ended up as the winner! He then also reached the 1st position in the floor finale. The victory on vault went to Anna Pavlova (RUS).

Winners Final
Both Yann Cucherat and Mitja Petkovsek managed to repeat their good performances. In the end the deserved victory went to Slovenia.

Alexandra Eremia (ROM) with a very difficult routine; front aerial – Menicelly – layout stepout bw.; dismount Menicelly – ff – triple twist (of which she didn’t finish the rotation completely);
Lisa Brüggemann (GER) with a solid performance without major mistakes, slight problems during a few elements, with her start value of 9.5 she couldn’t get over the 6th rank in this finale;
Anna Pavlova (RUS) with slight insecurities on a front aerial; a beautiful triple twist dismount;
Suzanne Harmes (NED) was the last competitor in this finale and ended it with a good performance including sidewards somersault and a triple twist dismount;

Winners Final
Eremia and Ezhova with another 2 good routines. Eremia, however, again with slight problems to finish the rotation of her triple twist dismount. In the end the victory narrowly went to Romania.
Report men’s high-bar finale

The mood in the venue was good during the whole weekend but it was even rising during the high-bar finale in which Fabian Hambüchen had good chances on a top position…

Jani Tanskanen (FIN) started with an interesting routine, nice turns and grip variations ;
Takuya Nakase (JAP) prestented a good routine but had to secure his dismount with one large step;
Philippe Rizzo (AUS), Australia’s high-bar specialist tried the difficult Def …and fell;
Alexander Jeltkov (CAN), the elegant gymnast from Canada showed a perfect routine; laoyut Kovacs, giant with jumped 1/1 turn; double-double dismount;
Aljaz Pegan (SLO) with a fireworks of flight elements; 2 times Tkatchev, Gienger and his “Pegan”, dismount triple somersault; the audience is not happy about his score…(SV 9.7/ final score 9.375);

DTB-Cup Stuttgart: 2 victories for Romania and the Netherlands

Two Romanian, two Dutch and one Russian victory - this is the balance of the first finales’ day at the 22nd International DTB-Cup in Stuttgart.

Romania’s Razvan Selariu won on vault narrowly in front of the young German Matthias Fahrig. A second victory went to Romania on pommel horse where the finale once again was won by Marius Urzica. A strong performance secured Yuri van Gelder (NED) the victory on rings. His team mate Suzanne Harmes won the floor finale in the women’s field. Ludmila Ezhova from Russia reached the 1st rank in the uneven bars finale.

the second-ranked from the qualification with problems today, she got frighteningly narrow to the bar on her Gienger and then lost the rhythm in her routine which she ended with a full-in dismount;

his father and coach once had been a great gymnast – and also the son did a good job today, he presented a spectacular routine but with slight technical insecurities;

after two falls yesterday he competed a bit reluctantly today but got through the routine without mistakes and stuck the dismount;

a good routine but without spectacular highlights and with problems on the dismount;

Women's floor finale

Suzanne Harmes NED – 9.412
a good performance of her sportive routine but she showed it a bit reluctantly today and with slight technical insecurities,
Elena Zamolodchikova RUS – 9.062
a stylish routine full of rhythm with interesting elements but also with a bit lack of difficulty today;
Lais Souza BRA – 8.362
the young 15-year old gymnast from Brazil certainly is a big talent but not yet ready for a perfect performance, today she fell on her double somersault;
Daria Bijak GER – 8.675
a powerful routine with a strong beginning, but the power then was missing a bit towards the end, slight insecurities and also the routine didn’t match the difficulty level of the others;
Alexandra Eremia ROM – 9.275
perfect Romanian gymnastics on floor which she presented with a great technique today;
Daiane dos Santos BRA – 9.175
The floor World Champion with a fireworks of acrobatics, slight insecurities here and there and problems with her triple twist, but nonetheless a great performance full of temper! A bit surprisingly she didn’t reach the winers final!

The winners final was reached by Harmes and Eremia.

Harmes: 9.462
a bit more powerful presentation compared to her first routine, but slight insecurities, however her difficulties like a piked full-in were presented perfeclty;
Eremia – 8.850
she presented the most difficult routine today – and almost without mistakes, the audience – and we – were a bit confused about the score…?


Men's rings finale

Matteo Morandi ITA – 9.675
the gymnast from Italy with perfect strength elements and a good double layout dismount of which he stuck the landing;
Takuya Nakase JPN – 9.442
slight insecurities with his inverted cross and a small step on the double layout dismount;
Eriks Revelinsh LAT – 9.475
the second-ranked from the qualification showed a technically perfect routine which thrilled the audience and a stuck double layout dismount at the end;
Yuri van Gelder, NED – 9.762
a difficult routine which he presented very well until the dismount with which he had very slight problems;
Levente Fekete HUN – 9.487
he started off very well but then had problems in the second part of his routine and also made a mistake on his double piked dismount;
Dmitri Savitski BLR – 9.525
a dynamic presentation at the end of this finale with a perfect double layout dismount.

In the winners final competed Morandi and van Gelder.

again a good and concentrated performance but with small problems on the dismount;

a perfect presentation!


At the end of this first finales’ day a view on a future highlight was presented: The World Championships in artistic gymnastics 2007 in Stuttgart. The “World Championships- Team 2007” including rhythmic gymnasts Magdalena Brzeska and Lisa Ingildeeva presented a beautiful show to a nice choreography which included gymnasts from artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics and trampoline.

The qualification for the finales of the 22nd International DTB-Cup in artistic gymnastics took place in an almost sold-out venue in an impressive atmosphere today.
Russia’s Anna Pavlova took the lead on two apparatus – vault and beam. The highest score of the day was reached by Marius Urzica (ROM) with 9.875 on pommel horse. The host team Germany managed to reach spots in 7 out of the 10 finales with Matthias Fahrig winning the qualification on vault and Heike Gunne reaching the 2nd place on uneven bars.

Today, the 22nd International DTB-Cup in artistic gymnastics will start with the qualification competitions.
93 gymnasts from 32 nations will take part in this tournament of the FIG- World Cup series. After their 8th rank in the team finale at the Olympic Games in Athens the German team will now in Stuttgart be led by Germany’s rising gymnastics star Fabian Hambüchen.

Marius Urzica (ROM)

Germany’s youngest team member and one of the fans' favourites at the Olympic Games Fabian Hambüchen has high aims on high bar and wants to tie up to his performance in Athens (7th place) and to reach the finale also in Stuttgart.

'Also at its’ 22nd time the DTB-Cup still has the same brilliance and explosiveness,” remarks head of the tournament and managing director of the local Swabian Gymnastics Federation Robert Baur. Also the ticket sale is running perfectly. “The response of the audience is, maybe caused through the Olympic Games, very good. From the overall 19,500 tickets only 3,500 for the three days are left at the moment.”

Chinese victory at Troph?e Massilia

China won the team competition aof the French traditional team competition of women's artistic gymnastics with a score of 70,95 points.
With a difference of 0,075 behind came the team of Ukraine, followed by Canada.
Best in all-around was the Ukrainian Marina Proskurina with 35,325 points, followed by the two Chinese Kang, Xin and Wang, Tiantian..... Defending champion Romania, which sent a team of juniors this year, finished fifth.....

After the successful happening at the last World Cup in Ghent the Romanian gymnasts are the best again at the mixed pair competition, the traditional SWISS CUP in Zurich, Switzerland, today: Winner was the world class pair Catalina PONOR / Marius URZICA (19,450 in final rotation), followed by the Romanian-Swiss team Monica ROSU / Andreas SCHWEIZER (19,138)

Come back: Verona van de Leur

The Royal Dutch Gymnastics Federation KNGU announced that Verona van de Leur from the Nijmegen's club 'De Hazekamp' has returned to form and will be in Birmingham for the world cup final event in December. Van de Leur was one of the stars of 2002 at the European Championships in Patras, winning the all-around silver medal. She was also the vice world champion on floor exercise at the World Championships in Debrecen in the same year , and tgold medallis on floor exercise at the last World Cup Final in Stuttgart 2002. Together with her coaches Boris Orlov and Ester Heijnen she has worked very hard to come back, and is ready to go forward again.

World Cup: Strong Romanians in Ghent!

At the first day of the decisions of the world cup event in Ghent Belgium the Chinese XIAO, Qin got the absolutely highest score of 9,925 points on pommel horse and beat again the Romanian specialist Marius Urzica (9,887).
The Brazilian Diego Hypolito won on floor (9,737) and the best on rings was the Dutch specialist Yuri van Gelder (9,737)
In women's category the Romanian Monica Rosu won on vault (9,525) followed by Alicia Sacramento (USA; 9,387)) and LI, Ya was the best on uneven bars (9,712).

At the second day the Romanians won three apparatuses and Olympic champion Catalin PONOR was the superstar in Ghent....
