Italian Juniors beat Germany

The Italian national juniors team won its dual meet against the guests from Germany with 206,575 vs. 205,650 points.
In the Palazzetto delo Sport of Montevarchi near Florence the German team made a lot of mistakes and started without their stars Hambuechen, Eichorn and Boy...
Best gymnast in all-around was the Italian Paolo Oravi with 52,45, followed by his teammate Matteo Corona and the German Thomas Taranu (- both 51,90).

Kanukai JACKSON retired

The Britisch Gymnastics Association (BAGA) pronounced, that one of the best British gymnasts ever, Kanukai Jackson, the 2002 Commonwealth Games All-around Champion, 2002 European Bronze medallist on Vault, and 2000 and 2002 British All-around Champion, has decided to retire from competition.
He is already in Montreal, starting his new career as a member of the cast of the renowned Canadian “Cirque du Soleil”.

FIG Congress: President Grandi confirmed in Office

At the 75th General Assembly (Congress) of FIG in Antalya, the Italian Bruno Grandi has been confirmed in office as President from 86 of the 96 nations.
In the first ballot, both the French Dr. Michel Leglise as well as the Japanese Koji Takizawa were elected as Vice-Presidents by the delegate; in the second ballot the Canadian Slava Corn was also elected.
Romania's Gymnastics President Vieru has not been re-elected, the Swiss Ivan Weber had already canceled his candidacy before the elections took place...

At the 75th General Assembly (Congress) of FIG in Antalya (Turkey), the FIG Executive Committee finished the analysis of the Olympics in Athens.
The action plan will be presented to the Congress on Thursday, as the FIG pronounced...
He said that he wants 'to go all the way with competent men and women who have a great sense of integrity. The ones who made mistakes will be sanctioned. The FIG and the gymnasts cannot tolerate the injustice and bad reputation on our sport. The sport cannot exist without integrity and equity.'

CAS Decision: Hamm is the Olympic Champion!

The fig pronounced, that the Court of Arbitration for Sport has rejected the appeal submitted by the Korean Gymnast Yang Tae Young, against the judges’ decision after the Men’s Olympic All Around competition in Athens.

According to the rules in effect, the ranking will not be modified and the gold medal will remain as presented to Paul Hamm (USA)....

...the results are correct:
- Gold: Paul HAMM (USA; Mitte)
- Silver: KIM, Dae Eun (KOR; li)
- Bronze: YANG, Tae Young (KOR)

President Grandi has proposed modifications of the artistic rules and presenting today the principles of the new direction to the 350 delegates of the national federations attending the ordinary General Assembly of the FIG in Antalya.

PREVIEW: 5th TeamGym - European Championships in Team-Gymnastics

From 23rd until 26 October take place in the Messestadion (fair stadium) of Dornbirn/Austria the 5th 'TeamGym', better confessed than European Championships in team gymnastics. Organizer in this year is the Austrian gymnastics federation (ÖFT). About 800 gymnast out of 14 countries participate with 47 teams in this attractive competition. All the gymnasts present a practice in Mini tramp, jumped on Tumbling course and shown similar Ground performance. It gives the three categories 'Women', 'Men' and 'Mixed-Teams'.

Austria itself will be takes part with four teams in this team competition: the Mixed-team of Union West-Vienna belongs to the best domestic teams. Vorarlberg go that just decorated country master with the newly formed gentlemen of that Sport secondary school Dornbirn into the racing. Moreover the ÖFT-vices masters start with the ladies team Turnerschaft Mäder and that extra a year ago for this organization group formed TeamGym-Union EWG with gymnasts from Eisenstadt, Vienna and Graz.

Alexei Nemov: Career hangs on new rules

His decision is open yet...
Russian veteran Alexei Nemov told the China Daily that he will decide whether to end his gymnastics career after the sport's new judging rules come out.
The 28-year-old athlete told, that he would discuss with his coach after studying the new code of points, which should have been developed but delayed as gymnastics officials proposed to redraft it.
Nemov is invited to attend an international friendly in the city of Xiantao, located in Chinese Hubei province. The competition also features a throng of Olympians from Russia, Romania and Bulgaria, including retired Russian diva Svetlana Khorkina and Romanian Marian Dragulescu.

Grandi with principles for new judging regulations

2 weeks before the F.I.G.- World- Congress:
With an internal information document to the member federations Bruno Grandi has started a new stage on the FIG's way to new international judging regulations in artistic gymnastics:
In the document are listed the principles which according to him are required for the new 'Code de Pointage'. The FIG- World Congress will now take care of this issue at the end of October in Antalya (TUR)...
