Gervasio Deferr - positiv case...?

A positive case of presence of canabis came out after the doping controls carried out in Paris (FRA), at the World Cup event 'France Telecom', held in October 2002. This case was attributed to the Spanisch gymnast and Olympic Champion Gervasio Deferr.
This pronounced the biggest Spanish Sports newspaper 'Marca', today. The newspaper cites the chairmann of the medical commission of FIG, Mr. Michel Léglise, that further information will be released after receiving the results of the second analysis.

World Cup Qualification in Cottbus

The team of German host just arrived in Cottbus from the training camp Kienbaum, near Berlin. After injury of Sven Kwiatkowski last weekend in Paris, the German coach Andreas Hirsch have some problems...
In Cottbus arrived participants from 42 nations. Amomg of them Olympic, world and European champions. The qualification events starts today at 1 p.m. local time in the new venue Lausitz Arena.

World Cup Paris: Injuries Stop Romanian and German Stars

(nbb) For Romanias top gymnast Oana Petrovschi the Worldcup series Paris-Cottbus-Thessaloniki was over before it began. The 17-year-old from Birlad injured her ankle while training for the World Cup at Paris-Bercy's 'Palais Omnisport' on friday. 'Thanks god that nothing is broken', she told gymworld, though she was really cross about her mishap: 'I failed to notice a training suit which was lying on the floor mat, landed on it and bent my ankle.'
For Petrovschi, who will have to wear a plaster cast for one week, a start in Cottbus is definatly impossible: 'I was told that I can start again with training in about three weeks.' ...

The German all-around champion Sven Kwiatkowski also injured in Paris on his left feet. So he submitted yesterday an operation in Berlin. German chief coach Andreas Hirsch said, that this means an absolutly break of 6 or 8 weeks, now. So the local hero will start in Cottbus coming weekend.

Whoever wants to be successful in future, needs to start in Berlin: For more than a decade many junior national teams come to Berlin to prepare for future major international events.

This year for many national federations the competition in Berlin belongs to the selection process for their teams for the upcoming Junior European Championships in Montpellier in 6 weeks ...

The longest journey had to be undertaken by the team from Vietnam who will participate in Berlin for the first time. Instead of Japan they will represent Asia at the International Junior-Team-Cup this year. Artistic gymnastics in Vietnam is steadily progressing: At the last World Championships in Tokio for example Phan Hi Hah Than won a medal for the first time...

World Cup Paris: Dutch Surprise on Still Rings!

European Champion Anna Pavlova won the finals on vault and beam in the first part of the world cup final in Paris-Bercy. Svetlana Khorkina was first an bars and Elena Gomez from Spain won on floor
The Dutch champion on rings Yuri van Gelder cares for a big surprise on his special apparatus and beat the whole world elite. It was the first world cup victory of a Dutch male gymnast in history (The last vicory in Grand Prix circuit in the Nineties got Alexander Selk on high bar.).
Once again the Romanian superstar on pommel horse Marius Urzicawas the best on this apparatus....

PREVIEW: French INTERNATIONAL starts the World Cup Circuit 2003

130 gymnasts from 37 nations set to compete at the annual French International - the opening of the world cup circuit 2003, one week later followed by the 'TOURNAMENT of MASTERS' in Cottbus, and after than THESSALONIKI (Greece).
Gymnasts in Paris represent 12 medallists from 2002 World Champions (Debrecen), among of them the world champions Yelena Zamolodchikova (RUS/vault), Elena Gomez (ESP/floor) and Marian Dragulescu (ROM/floor), and Marius Urzica (ROM/pommel).

When on March 6th 2010 in Berlin the "15th INTERNATIONAL JUNIOR-TEAM-CUP 2010" will take place, the city, which will also be the host of the European Championships 2011, can expect the performances of 27 teams from 17 nations and three continentes. It again will be a competition of the best junior gymnasts from all over the World. Some of them will be seen again on the winners' podium at World Champions, Olympic Games or other high-level international events in the next Olympic cycle.
For four time in a row the young athletes from the team Olympic Champion 2004, Japan, were the winners in Berlin.
Can Europe's talents counter this time...?

Austria, Canada, France and Switzerland will use this team- competition even with two teams!

The invitation competition for the 36th BLUME Memorial 2012 inmemory of the 1959 fatalities 4-times Spanish European Gymnastics champions Joaquin Blume - after whom also the BLUME Gran Canaria-Fesival is named, which begins next week - won on Saturday the Ukrainian Oleg VERNIAEV with 90.000 points. Second was the ECh bronze medallist of Berlin (2011), Britain's Daniel PURVIS (85.299) before the current best Spaniard and Olympic Ninth, Fabian GONZALEZ (85.299).
<< The women's competition of  this big European tradition won the now 17-year-old Anna DEMENTYEVA from the Russian World Champions gold team of Rotterdam (2010) with 56.600 points, followed Giulia STEINGRUBER (SWITZERLAND; 54.650) and Spaniard Maria Paula VARGAS (53.700).

At one tenth point behind Germany's   exceptional athlete, the 37-year-old Oksana Chusovitina, missed the podium on fourth narrowly, but received 20 years after your first Olympic victory here in Barcelona a special honor ...


This year's competition was dedicated to the memory of the Olympic gymnastics competition in 1992, exactly twenty years ago in Barcelona. Why were there including the 6-time Olympic champion at the time, who is now living in the U.S. Belorussian Vitaly Scherbo and the still active "First Lady of international gymnastics," Oksana Chusovitina who then won already team gold and since then continuously to further 6 Olympic Games took part, was honored with trophies reminder of the Olympic city Bercelona particularly.

The fact that the extraordinary gymnast Oksana CHUSOVITINA is a world-star can be seen even more in the rest of the World than in her new home country Germany.
After having won the Olympic silver medal in 2008 she thrilled more than 400 Million Chinese viewers in Beijing in a TV-show . It is not surprising that she now has received more honours at the same place: The German citizen who originally comes from Uzbekistan now has received the "OLYMPIC IDOL 2012 AWARD" in Beijing. This award was given to her in order to honour her lieftime achievement and her 6th Olympic participation this year in London.
Having just come back from China she now is on the road again in order to travel to Sochi to give a lecture on "sports and peace"...
Oksana Chusovitina explains:

After having received the award in Beijing Oksana continued to travel right away. She went on to the Olympic city for 2014, Sochi in Russia.
She followed an invitation from the president and founder of the organisation "PEACE & SPORT", Joel BOUZOU.

World Cup No. 6: Most successful Russians - strong North Koreans

Artistic Gymnastics World Stars met at the Sport Complex Olympisky in central Moscow (RUS) to compete in the sixth stopover of the FIG World Cup circuit, a category A tournament.
Set for May 14 - 15, the World Stars were host ed by the Russian Gymnastics Federation in cooperation with the City of Moscow and the Russian Ministry of Sports. The high level tournament debuted in 2006 and celebrated its 5th edition this year.

Alexander Balandin
(rings), Anton Golotsutskov (vault), Tatiana Nabieva (bars) and Ekaterina Kurbanova (floor) were the winners of the Russian host, but also the North Koreans leaved strong marks at the "World Stars" tournament in Moscow ...
