... the IRAQ WAR begun five Years ago::... we remind at the Appeal for Peace of German Sportsmen!

... biggest Peace Initiative by German Sportsmen!
Five years ago, in an Appeal for peace: "SPORTSMEN AGAINST WAR" almost 2.500 German Olympic Champions and participants, World and European Champions and sportsmen turned against the war in Iraq with an unparalleled collection of signatures.
GYMmedia INTERNATIONAL hosted this initiative back then, of which Germany's Olympic Champion in Gymnastics Klaus KOESTE was one of the initiators, together with the German cyling legend Gustav Adolf SCHUR.
People of different confessions, party memberships and political opinions adhered to the campaign.
The war could not be prevented and started on March 20th 2003...
Budget specialists in the US congress estimate the costs of the intervention to be over 400 million Dollar a day currently....,
    - that is about  5.000 Dollar per second!

By now, about 3.800 US-soldiers lost their lives in the war in Iraq, almost 28.000 were injured.
The number of the Iraqi victims of the war can only be estimated, which are between 70.000 and 150.000 deads. A controversial US study even estimated the number of dead Iraqis to be 655.000  ...!
As expected, the war did not solve the problems.
Hence, the "Peace list of German sports" is more up-to-date than ever, even after five years!

Japanese Junior- team with hat-trick in Berlin - GYMfamily EVENT -

A young Japanese artistic gymnastics team won the "13th International Junior Team Cup 2008" in Berlin for the third time in a row. The second place went to the hosts of the upcoming European Championships Switzerland and the bronze medal went to Spain. Following behind the medallists were the team from Belarus, a German mixed- team, the team from Lyon (France) and on the 7th place the host team from Berlin.
The victories in the individual rankings went to Christian Bazan from Spain (junior category), Mauricio Lima from Lyon/ France (15/16 year-old) and Hiroki Hoshijima from Japan (14 year-old and younger)...

Ryuzo SEJIMA- Japanese elegance!

Lucas FISCHER, top gymnast from Switzerland on the 2nd place in the all-around

Overall the Spanish gymnasts looked physically stronger compared to the other gymnasts of the same age. This not necessarily has to be an advantage in future in a coordinatively complex kind of sports like gymnastics!
The athletic- looking all-around winner in the juniors' category, Christian BAZAN (photo on the right) dominated especially on rings where he reached the highest score as well as on floor where he got high 14.900 points!
Also the performances by the Spanish team on vault were impressive: two times "Roche" (handspring - double somersault fwd.). Vaults of this kind of difficulty can only be seen rarely on the junior level!

Max VACCA from Canada - 3rd in the category of the 15 - 16 year-old gymnasts!

The German team reached the 5th place - a solid result for the team with two candidates for the Junior European Championships  Sebastian KRIMMER and Andreas TOBA.
Toba couldn't compete on parallel bars and high bar due to an injured finger and Krimmer still had a few instabilities in his routines.
The host team Berlin also presented a solid competition within the expectations. After all, they managed to leave about 20 nations behind them. Philipp SORRER, also one of Germany's candidates for the Junior European Championships, made mistakes on floor and pommel horse but managed to present faultless routines on the other four apparatus!
