Wheel Gymnastics: Count down for the World Championships

Six weeks before the 5th World Championsships of Wheel Gymnastics in the Norvegian Olympic City of 1994, Lillehammer, the count down is running on for the actives and athletes, who will participate, there.
This week, 32 gymnasts from Germany, Switzerland, Norway and France meet in Taunusstein (Germany), for an internatinal training camp, to prepare for the 2003 high light....

Bientzle beim Sprungtraining

More than 20 actives took part in the international training camp, which the International Association of Wheel-Gymnastics (IRV) organized in cooperation with the responsibles and trainers of the german wheels’ group of TSV Taunusstein-Bleidenstadt.
The programme of the camp for competitors had his main contents in “new elements and exercises in spiral and vault”. Besides, the actives from Japan, Norway, the Netherlands and Switzerland got a lot of tips from the coachers from Taunusstein, leaded by the world-champions of 1999 Katja Homeyer and Wolfgang Bientzle.
In July, there will be another international wheel camp for the actives from all over the world. The camp will take place in Valencia/Spain. There, besides wheel training, the meeting of the international youth, doing wheels gymnastics, will come to the fore, including a programme with various leisure activities in sports and sightseeing.

International: German first Qualification for World Champs Lillehammer

Las weekend was held the first German qualification event for the coming world Championships of WHEEL GYMNASTICS, which will took place 2003, May, in Lillehammer, Norway.
All together 52 participants from Germany started in the city Giessen, also 10 participants, coming from Belgium, Iran, Austria and the USA, to get enough points in this competition for qualifying, to get a WCh ticket to Norway......
It was a difficult task for the German athletes, because more than 10 participants took part in every age group, but only four gymnast can get a tickt to the coming world championship.

In men's competion the five-times worldshampion from Germany, Jan Schaefer (from TSV Taunusstein-Bleidenstadt) was not only the top favourite, but also absolutely the best again.
On second place came his team mate Julius Petri and on third the local matador Florian Krause from SV Muenster.

On Saturday, October the 19th the host TSV Marburg-Ockershausen was the winner of the German Team Championships 2002.
It was a big surprise, that the long time favourite TSV Taunusstein- Bleidenstadt got only the silver medal this year..

Training Camp in Brazil

The first trainingcamp in wheel gymnastics in Brazil took place from 14.-20.October 2002.
One year before two groups was builded after the visit of a international wheel gymnastics team in Brazil.

With two German coaches, Sabine Nickel and Sigrun Leisner, the Brasilian gymnasts learned a lot of new exercises.
Hopefully we will see some Brasilian gymnasts in one of the next international competitions.

Crisis in Germany continues...

More than five month passed by after the German Gymnastic Festival in Leipzig.
And the section 'wheel gymnastics', departement of the German Gymnastic Association (DTB), still has no technical committee in front.
By the way of the German Team Championships was held a meeting of DTB - but without a decisive success ...

Night of Champs

More than 15 Olympic, world and European champions performed the event 'Night of the Champs' in the Phoenix Hall of Mainz at Christmas 2002.
The 8 times world champion of wheel gymnastics, Wolfgang BIENTZLE, also the art director of the DTB Gala Gymmotion was the choreographer of this show.

5th World Champs of Wheel Gymnastics

The International Federation of Wheel Gymnastics IRV will organize the 5th World Championships of Wheel Gymnastics 2003 in May, the 27th to 31st in the city of the 1994 Olympic Winter Games Lillehammer.
Host is the Norway Gymnastics Federation.
The venue will be the Hakon Hall in Lillehammer.

More than eight month passed by after the German Gymnastic Festival in Leipzig and the crisis of the management of German wheel gymnastics is going on.
No the host (TSB FLENSBURG) of the second German qualifying for the coming world championships this year in Lillehammer cancelled the readiness to organize this event in March 2003....

Second German Qualification for World Championships

Also like three weeks before the favourites of the second German qualifying of wheel gymnastics were the best again. This weekend the German qualification event took place in Bergisch Gladbach, near Cologne.
After the first qualification three weeks ago in Giessen now all six tickets in the different events where clear and the Germans will go to the coming world Championships in Lillehammer (Norway) with an absolutly strong team and with a lot of aspirants for the medals....

... also Janin OER (VfB Fallersleben) beats the world champion Julia Pohling..

In men's categoy Julius Petri (TSV Taunusstein-Bleidenstadt) - on second place at the first event - now beats the five-time world champion Jan Schaefer, who is coming from the same club.
The next rankings in men's category are:
Constantin Malchin (TV Bredeney), Florian Krause (SV Münster), Holger Schneider (TSV Bleidenstadt) and Tim Schmelcher (TSB Flensburg) are the candidates of the German world championships team
