IRV-President Paul SIELER resumes 2009 Wheel Gymnastcs Worlds

"World Championships of the superlative was great!"

That is o ne of the core declarations of the president of the International  Rhönrad federation (IRV), Paul SIELER, - to the general meeting of his federation in Baar last week. He gave an exclusive interview to European Gymnastic Service GYMmedia INTERNATIONAL just shortly after the 8th. World Championships in the Swiss town Baar...:

Paul SIELER (GER) during opening speech in Baar (SUI)

*GYMmedia:  – Since the World title competitions the German dominance is hard to overcome do you see a different tendency...?
* Paul SIELER
: - "I think that in the next years this dominance will hopefully be overcome, Israel, the Netherlands or Austria with their first WC medal and also the USA as a new IRV member are on a good way.!

*GYMmedia:  – The IRV wants to support other Nations on their way. Where tdo you see the main focus?
* Paul SIELER: - "We will surely support training events and foreign advertising campaigns. Especially Central and Eastern Europe are in the target group."

*GYMmedia:
  – The next highlights are in Germany again. Is it difficult to set new international accents by choosing the hosts?
* Paul SIELER: - "We are with the World Championships -  after Limburg 1999 - really just the second time in Germany. The other countries wait and plan the Team Cup and WC for the next years. I anticipate fuutre IRV - highlights in  the Netherlands, the USA, in Isreal and maybe even soon in Japan.

*GYMmedia:  – Now will all German Rhönradstars participate in the National Championships in Frankfurt. Do you expect a media run on the international successful discipline after the World Championship victories...?
* Paul SIELER
: - "We are successul for years now at German and World Championships but the interest we wish for from the media is missing. There are various reasons for this. This is way we value the GYMmedia-Plattformen even more for its national and international publicity. Maybe the break through will come sooner than we think and hope.

Bientzle is teaching in Chicago

It is no wonder that children travel from all over Chicago to train and study with CircEsteem, Chicago’s non-profit youth circus.
Wolfgang BIENTZLE, Germany, the holder of the most Wheel Gymnastic titles in the world and former athlete national coach for Germany, is dedicating his considerable talents to CircEsteem as a coach and performer.
To say Bientzle is world-class wheel gymnastic coach and performer is an understatement.: As a competitor Bientzle holds 8 World, 11 European and more than 60 German titles....

Bientzle approached CircEsteem in 2005, proposing an educational partnership, which the young organization was happy to nourish. Originally founded by Paul H. Miller a former Barnum and Bailey’s Clown, CircEsteem seeks to unite youth from diverse racial, cultural, and economic backgrounds and help them build self-esteem and mutual respect through the practice of circus arts.
Since his arrival in Chicago, Wolfgang has brought the expertise, opportunity, and acclaim that enabled CircEsteem to flourish.
Bientzle’s impact is resounding; he has sent two CircEsteem athletes to world competition, ...

Bientzle is a cosmopolitan!
He has contributed to shows in more than 50 countries and is highly respected among the Monte Carlo Circus Festival and the World Circus Festival in Moscow, Holiday on Ice, Disney......

<< Unforgotten is his impressively uniquely performance in a matchless form as Humphrey Bogart ...!

Wolfgang Bientzle, as creative director of CircEsteem, has brought a professional flair, increased organization and advanced rehearsal techniques that has benefited this project greatly.

In short the impact that Bientzle has had on the individuals of CircEsteem, the community in which it works, and on wheel gymnastics as a whole in the United States, is immeasurable.

Wheels go Brazil - Wheel gymnastics tournament in Campinas/Sao Paulo

From August 21 to September 4 14 Wheel gymnasts afrom Germany took part in the 4th Forum Internacional Gymnastic Geral in Campinas (Brazil) an event which is organized every two years by the University of Campinas/Sao Paulo (UNICAMP).
There were workshops for interested club coaches, sports students and sports teachers from Brazil, but also from other South American countries. In the three hour sessions the basics of wheel gymnastics were taught both theoretically and especially practically. In addition, various individual and group performances were part of the programme.

Lots of participants for the hands-on events...

Auch die Kleinsten mochten die deutschen Freunde...

In 2001, a German wheel gymnastics group first took part in the 1st Forum in Brazil. Since then, a wheel gymnastics group has been formed at the University of Campinas, with which intensive training was possible.

>> Meanwhile the first wheels „made in Brazil“ are being produced, and this is sure to be good for the spread of wheel gymnastics in Brazil.
