3rd F.I.G. WORD CUP 2025: Coimbra / POR (July 05-06)
♦♦ More than 200 athletes from 27 nations are suiting upfor the third Trampoline World Cup of the year but the first to feature all of the sport’s categories. In addition to Men’s and Women’s Individual and Synchronised Trampoline, the best in Tumbling and Double Mini-Trampoline (DMT) will take part, and a total of eight sets of medals are up for grabs.
Portugal’s medieval capital has attracted all but two reigning World champions and the full Paris Olympic podiums for the biggest showdown since the World Championships 18 months ago. One reason is the impending World Games in Chengdu (CHN), where Synchronised Trampoline is back on the programme, rejoining Tumbling and DMT after being absent in 2022.
Here’s all you need to know about this weekend’s event.
♦ Padilla breaks DMT World record
Emotions ran high as a Double Mini-Trampoline World record fell and the host nation’s top tumbler and Synchronised pair triumphed at the Trampoline Gymnastics World Cup 5-6 July in Coimbra (POR).
<< DMT-World champion Ruben Padilla (USA) shattered the World record for difficulty in Sunday’s finals with a 13.9 D-score for his new triff pike to immediate quadruple back, the most difficult pass ever done in international competition. And by no small margin: The previous difficulty record was 13.100 points, nearly a full point below Padilla’s successful attempt. Padilla, the magician of DMT, nailed the pass with an effortlessness that set the Trampoline world buzzing and even seemed to shock himself. After landing cleanly, his mouth dropped open in shock and he pumped his fists several times, looking overwhelmed before hugging his coach and fellow competitors.
