Two years after the last Junior World Championships in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, around 350 of the world's best young gymnasts gathered in Bulgaria's capital Sofia from 18 to 22 June to compete for a total of eight titles at the 3rd Junior World Championships in Rhythmic Gymnastics. These 14- to 15-year-old gymnasts provided an interesting insight into the age groups that will determine and shape the development of the sport in the run-up to the 2028 Olympic Games:

♦ The competition consists of individual gymnasts and groups of five gymnasts.
The qualifications for the individual competitions take place on the first two days, with participants competing with four apparatus – hoop, ball, clubs and ribbon – for the top eight places in each discipline to secure a place in the final.
♦ The group competition began on 21 June, with 36 nations registered to participate. Each group performs two routines, one with five ribbons and one with five pairs of clubs. The total score counts towards the group's overall score, and the top eight in each discipline qualify for the respective finals. On this day, the winners of the team title will also be announced, which will be awarded to the nation with the highest total score from all four individual and two group exercises.
BULGARIA won the team title ahead of the USA and Uzbekistan. Germany ranked 8th among the 34 nations evaluated.
