With the 48th International Tournament of Champions 2025 (February 20-23) in the Cottbus Lausitz Arena, the International Gymnastics Federation F.I.G. opened its international World Cup series in the post-Olympic year. Instead of the previous four, this year's series includes a total of six tournaments:
After the AGF Trophy in Baku/AZE; from 06 - 09 March in Antalya (TUR; March 20 - 23) and after than in Osijek (CRO; April 12/13) in Doha (QAT; April 16 - 19) and last but not least in Cairo (EGY; April 27-30) these six World Cup events within just 11 weeks only (!) represented a very high competition density, within which there is still the DTB Cup weekend from 27 to 30 March in Stuttgart/GER and then the Continental Championships in Leipzig at the end of May for the Europeans!
♦ This represents a very high density of competitions, which many nations and athletes were unable to attend in total, with the DTB Cup weekend (27-30 March) and then the Continental Championships in Leipzig at the end of May for the Europeans!
♦ In terms of content, structure and overall strategic load, this is a world calendar that is in urgent need of reform, which - despite respectable performances - does not increase the media usability and perceptibility and thus unfortunately also the degree of arbitrariness, especially due to the annual flood of up to 100 World Cup winners !?

6th World Cup 2025: Cairo / EGY (April 27 -30)
* - n o GYMfamily-Event Service (- only results overview)
Propelled by victories on Men’s Floor Exercise and Horizontal Bar at back-to-back events, Kazakhstan team leader Milad Karimi carried away two FIG World Cup series titles as the spring tournaments wrapped up on in Cairo (EGY). In the women’s competition, Slovenians Teja Belak and Lucija Hribar landed among the winners too.
* Awarded for each apparatus in men’s and women’s Artistic Gymnastics, World Cup series titles are determined by ranking points that gymnasts earned via their finishes at events in Cottbus (GER), Baku (AZE), Antalya (TUR), Osijek (CRO), Doha (QAT), and Cairo (EGY) this year. A first-place finish was worth 30 ranking points, with 25 attributed for second, 20 for third, and so on. The best four finishes count toward the final point totals.

With convincing wins on Men’s Floor Exercise and Horizontal Bar, Milan Karimi was the only gymnast to win multiple titles. 14.466 points on Floor and 14.500 on Horizontal Bar not only won Karimi the apparatus finals, they gave the 25-year-old Almaty native a commanding lead in the race for the World Cup series titles on both apparatus.
Seven younger gymnasts between the ages of 18 and 22 landed on World Cup podiums for the first time. In addition to Hong on Pommel Horse, 18-year-old Altynkhan Temirbek (KAZ) and Olympian Jesse Moore (AUS) won silvers on Floor Exercise and Parallel Bars, respectively. Emirhan Kartin (TUR), Sam Mostowfi (GBR), Matteo Giubellini (SUI), and Tang Qi (CHN) were the bronze medallists for Vault, Floor Exercise, Parallel Bars and Horizontal Bar.

3rd World Cup 2025: Antalya / TUR (March 20 - 23)
* N O GYMfamily-Event (- short report & results only)
* F.I.G.-Preview --: Paris 2024 Olympic All-Around silver medallist Zhang Boheng (CHN) is making his World Cup debut this weekend in Antalya (TUR) amidst a deep Chinese team likely to clash with mature rivals — and one very strong newcomer — from Japan. At 25 Zhang is the undisputed leader of the Chinese men, with a World All-Around title and three Olympic medals to prove it. Just 0.233 points stood between him and the Olympic crown in Paris, and the Chinese are now counting on him to show the way for the next generation. Zhang has registered to compete on Pommel Horse and Still Rings, two apparatus where he can contend with the best and where it is almost certain he will. On Pommel Horse, he is likely to come up against Olympic silver medallist Nariman Kurbanov (KAZ), who like Zhang is competing internationally for the first time since the Olympics, as well as two-time World medallist Ahmad Abu Al Soud (JOR).
There will be no shortage of contenders for gold on Still Rings, either: the Antalya field includes 2021 World champion Lan Xingyu (CHN), Olympic finalist Vahagn Davtyan (ARM), and red-hot Nikita Simonov (AZE), the victor from the last World Cup in Baku (AZE).
Overall, China’s biggest competition may stem from continental rival Japan, whose delegation includes an Olympic champion in 35-year-old Tanaka Yusuke, a team gold medallist from the Rio 2016 Olympics. Tanaka came out of retirement in 2024 and nearly made the Paris team, and Antalya is his first World Cup start in five years. At the other end of the experience spectrum is 20-year-old Tanida Masaharu (JPN), a young man who shows tremendous promise.
