Rebeca Andrade (BRA): Fresh Start 2026 |
Ahead of the Pan American Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil’s Olympic champion Rebeca Andrade (27) has announced her first competition since the Paris Olympics, where she won gold in the vault and floor exercise. “Without putting too much pressure on myself...” the 27-year-old superstar aims to help her team reclaim the 2024 Pan Am title, which will be no easy task against the reigning continental champions, the U.S., as the Brazilians will ultimately face the Olympic team gold medalists, led by Hezly Rivera (18). Also worth noting is a strong Canadian team, which includes Olympian Aurelie Tran and World Championship medalist Lia-Monica Fontaine.
These 2026 Pan American Championships (June 17–21) mark the end of a one-year competitive hiatus for Andrade, which she took in 2025 after winning four medals and earning worldwide admiration at the Paris Olympics. With six Olympic medals, Andrade is now Brazil’s most successful Olympian across all sports.
